sculpting a small figurine: any tips?

In Friends Figurines Tagged , , , 2 Comments

i wanted to make a small figurine of a dragon for a friend of mine for Valentine’s day, and i need to know what would be the best clay-like material to use for this. i’m making two figures- one will be black with a small deep fire-red crystal in its chest for a heart and one will be a bit more delicate and white with the same crystal as a heart. i have expreience in the art field and want to make it VERY ornate and special, so good awnsers only please!

also, if someone would like to suggest a site where i could order a small statue like this to be delivered and possibly save me the trouble? i’ve looked in a lot of places but can’t seem to find anything in the way of this.

thanks !

given that you are unlikely to have access to a kiln you will need to use polymer clay (ovenbake clay). As the name indicates, you can use a normal oven for that. You can also buy polymer clay in different colors.

There are lots of website on polymer clay and most libraries also have some books on it.
