A feature on cakes and cake designs including the newest craze in town: cake toppers.

This piece of writing reveals to you a unique yet inexpensive way to jazz up your party cakes. It also tackles business opportunities, which come with the product. Explore endless possibilities in design making and have fun doing it with family and friends.

Everyday there is reason to celebrate – birthdays, weddings, baptismal, anniversaries – the list goes on and on. Such occasions call for not only good food, a magnificent setting, and terrific guests. Celebratory cakes have become a fundamental element of any festivity and these should be given as much attention as the menu. Before, simple writings were enough to decorate cakes however, with the advancement in technology, a wider range of embellishments are now available for all of us to choose from.

From simple figurines to your photos, all of these can now be a choice. Whether you like it to be sophisticated or downright comical, cake toppers may be personalized to cater to your preferences. Kids will definitely enjoy having thematic birthday parties while couples surely would remember their weddings because of their one-of-a-kind cake. Cake toppers are an essential part of every occasion as it, more or less, defines the theme of the party or describes the celebrator himself. Surprise a friend or family member with his or her favorite flavored cake but make sure to turn it up a notch by finding the perfect cake topper for them.

You may also want to consider adding special mementos, as your topper for this will definitely give your cake an edge. If you have the knack for crafts and decorating is a hobby, creating your own set of cake toppers should be a breeze. In turn, this may also be a wonderful idea in terms of business opportunities. Checking what’s available in the market will give you a picture of how it’s done. Simply pick up the phone, place an order or surf the net for helpful tips and guide. There are some cake topper makers that have catalogs from which you can choose your design. But just incase you cannot find precisely what you want, custom-made motifs are welcome. Use old photos, sketches and drawings tucked away in your cabinets or invent a unique design, which you can truly call your own.

It is important to note that the bottom line in incorporating toppers for your cakes is to bring about satisfaction from the celebrator, or if you make one, the client. Discussing in detail the preferences will, if not, deliver a cake topper like no other. Be ready to offer suggestions and share insights on selected designs. Consider relevance of the design to the celebrator, occasion and theme. Minimalism is also a key in producing sophisticated and classic cake toppers; however, bold and eccentric patterns or motifs are always an eye-catching sight.

Cakes will continuously be an integral part of any occasion, now and for times to come. Be sure to knock together the best cake toppers and be entertained with your guest’s reactions, comments and opinions. It is rather delightful to ponder on memories brought about by the small things that we sometimes take for granted, in this case, your all time favorite cake.

A friend of my husband’s is Filipino and he gave us a bizarre baby gift. It’s a statue of a little boy and supposedly it is supposed to be a likeness of our child. It’s a custom that we are supposed to protect it and take care of it until he’s older, then we are to give it to him so he can take care of it himself. Then, when he dies, he is supposed to be buried with it.

The statue itself is horribly ugly and cheesy- like a cheap Precious Moments figurine. We don’t really want it in our house. But if we get rid of it or break it, are we wishing some kind of bad luck on our son? It’s not our cultural or religious belief that it holds some sort of special power, but it’s creepy and we don’t know what to do with it.

Do you give gifts to your religious leader (rabbi/preacher/pastor/priest/nun/etc) for a special occassion (Christmas/b-day/etc)?

If no, then why? Would your answer change if you had a relationship with your religious leader. (I don’t mean sexual or anything inappropriate. I mean more of a mentor or friend outside of church/synagogue/etc)

If yes, then why? What did you buy? Did you buy an interesting book, a cute little figurine, yummy cookies, a unique cross, a intricate menorah, or…..? What price range did you spend on the gift?
To answer #3, don’t you give gifts out of appreciation for something someone has done for you regardless of whether or not they give you money or some physical present back? a teacher? a dog/house sitter? Why would a religious leader be any different?

<!– @page { margin: 2cm } P { margin-bottom: 0.21cm } A:link { color: #0000ff } –>

Decorating your home can be an endless and exhausting process if you like to keep it trendy and interesting by using modern home accessories. Whether you want to decorate a whole house or only your living room, there are so many different types and themes pertaining to home accessories.

Here are some factors to consider while buying home accessories:

Designs: All types of modern designs in home accessories can glam up your room. You can design a Japanese style kitchen with lots of space for unique storage units. You can select lamps that are designed to add mood and ambience to your living room or bedroom. Whether you are buying personal accessories, kitchen or bathroom accessories, opt for modern designs. Choose colors that gel into the hues of your sofa, carpet and curtains. Look for innovative shapes of home accessories that are stylish and classy.

Ambience: Whatever you buy must blend in with the ambience of your home. You can select ambient lights or accent lights to add depth and character across various places in your home. Little knick knacks, photographs and even books can bring in a feel of comfort and ambience to a room.

Size: Decide the size of whatever home accessories you plan to buy, be it a desk lamp or curtains or storage units. Other factors to consider are whether the size can be altered at a later point or whether the height matches the area you plan to fit it into.

Finish: Getting the right finish is important when you are buying home accessories. You wouldn’t want to buy cushions that are half-finished or storage units that haven’t got the final polished look.

Durability: Try to buy home accessories that are scratch-resistant. Accessories like candle holders, holiday ornaments, figurines or toys can get damaged easily if these are not child friendly. The outdoor accessories should be weather resistant and pet friendly.

Energy efficient: For your lighting requirements, you can consider design, form and function. In addition, it is important to ensure that energy efficiency is not compromised. The typical incandescent bulbs we use can be replaced with LED or CFL lighting fixtures. Pay special attention to home accessories that are energy efficient.

Recyclable materials: Try and buy home accessories like flower vases that are manufactured out of recycled materials.

At Emmo Home, you can find the best home furnishings and home accessories to suit your lifestyle preferences and changing requirements.

I kept her hand firmly in mine, gripping it tighter as we moved further away.
“Aunt Clara, where are we going?”
I looked down at the beautiful child with flowing tawny hair and those bright blue eyes. My gaze rested on the bandage on her temple. Even with the injuries, she looked so much like her mother though the resemblance to her father was outstanding.
I shook my head to clear it. Meredyth trusted me. My sister believes that i’ll be able to keep her little girl safe, but i cant even believe it myself. She’s too special. Too rare.
“We are going to a friend’s house in a far away land called Maryland.” I said dully, forcing a smile onto my face. Four year olds can easily tell if something was wrong or out of place, and they always questioned it. Alex didnt.
I glanced back at the scene that was created. The rubble and broken bricks, still smoldering. That was once her home, of her parents home. Now it was nothing but trash to be picked up, and a memory of hers that will long be forgotten.
“Where’s mommy and daddy?”
I felt the sweat break across my forehead, my palms, between my breasts. I have no children of my own. How was i supposed to tell my four year old niece that her parents were in hiding and she may never see them again?
I stopped and kneeled down, taking both of her hands in mine. Her cheeks had a slight rosy tint to them, despite her having her fathers tan skin. Her mouth was still a dark blue from the blueberry popsicle i bought her an hour ago. She clumsily pushed the strands of free hair from her face, a flash of bubble gum-colored nail polish.
“Alex, sweetie, they…” i closed my eyes to think, “You wont see them for a long, long time.”
She bit down on her bottom lip, her chin starting to quiver.
“No, no! Dont cry, sweetie.” i held her close and wished with all my heart that she would live a happy life with her new family.
Kimberly Weston lived in a two-story home in Hampstead, Maryland, a small historic town full of parks and small shops on Main Street. I had to remind myself that i was the one to choose her as Alex’s new family and Kimberly would take good care of her. I began to worry about equality amongst the children, for she had a son also, named Keane. But Kimberly seems like a loving mother and she was estatic when i chose them.
This separation…It has left a giant hole in my chest, sharp with pain and eager to feed on sorrow. This is my sister’s daughter, my niece, my kin.
I tear escaped the corner of my eye, accidental.
I stared into the eyes of her father. The eyes of those who are my peoples enemy. The enemy with power so far beyond what i have.
“Do they live in a fairy tale?” she asked suddenly, her nose running.
I pulled her back to look at her, but her tear-streaked face was serious. She had no idea of how right, how insightful she was at four years of age.
My gaze shifted to the scenario fifty feet behind her, and realized that what she was living wasnt a fairy tale. It was a legend. A legend of one who was different, who must live among humans to stay alive.
“Yes, and your the princess.” i said truthfully.
I pulled her up into my arms and walked over to the van. It was packed with what little her father had given to me, little things like her blanket, her knapsack, and a tiny figurine that was seven-inch tall, thin-framed girl with long wavy hair. Her arm was extended to the sky, and a White Raven perched on her palm, its wings ready for flight.
“Come on, Princess.” i said shakily, setting her into the car seat in the back. I buckled the straps and seat belt, smoothed her hair. She settled herself in and closed her eyes, her cheeks perfectly rounded and plump.
I slid quietly into the drivers seat of the van, put the car in drive, and headed for Maryland.
With everything inside me, i kmew that in thirteen years, i would return in her life after this long separation. I would be there to do what her parents couldnt. I would be there to introduce her to the world of love and magic.

A liquor flask is more than just a container of any distilled beverage. It is more than just about making you look hip and cool. It does more than just making your trouser pocket look useful. Yes, liquor flasks truly have more to them than just carrying your “spirit” with you.

A Thing of Beauty

This may sound too girlish but the truth is, a liquor flask would prove to be a great home decoration. For liquor flasks that are not that functional anymore, then you might have second thoughts about throwing them away. Instead of making a garbage can benefit from it, why don’t you display those items?

A modern-day liquor flask comes in many designs – leather-wrapped, golf-, cigarette- or even mobile phone-inspired. And whoever said that a liquor flask is just for the big boys? Yes, there are also liquor flasks that are specifically designed for the ladies.

Now, with these intricate designs, what a shame it would be if you’d just throw them away! So put them into good use and make the display cabinets in your living room happy.

A Thoughtful Gift

Giving someone – a friend, a colleague, or a family member perhaps – a liquor flask as a present is a very thoughtful act. No, this is not tantamount to saying that you want your friend to be a drunkard. Instead, a liquor flask as a gift is your way of supporting his or her hobby. Remember, hobby and habit – or vice – are very different things. A liquor flask would also be a cool gift for groomsmen!

Since you will be mesmerized by the hundreds of designs of a liquor flask, then you wouldn’t have a hard time picking one. All you have to do is to think of the interests of your recipient and his / her favorite color, and viola, you already have a design in mind!

Since liquor flasks are also “virtually” available, then you don’t even have to hop from one gift shop to another just so you’d find what you are looking for.

A Water Container

Now who says that a liquor flask is only good for storing liquid with “spirit”? Well, it’s true that this small container is specifically made for such purpose; that is the whole essence f a liquor flask. However, nobody would point an accusing finger at you if you use this pocket-sized stainless steel flask for storing water – and plainly non-threatening, safe, mineral water! Doing so works well with the ladies. They’d imagine you enjoying a sip of your favorite brandy.

Liquor flasks are dubbed as the “best gift you can give to anyone” by the Modern Drunkard Magazine. Thus, it makes sense for these items to always top the list of gift ideas.

Further, it’s a good thing to know that liquor flasks also have “novel” uses. It’s refreshing to realize that a liquor flask would make a good addition to your figurines in your display cabinets. Therefore when you do have the chance to give someone a gift – may it because of a birthday, an anniversary or just an ordinary day – then make liquor flasks one of your choices! You will never regret it.

The Christmas season is entertaining and exciting for almost everyone and embellishing your home with Christmas decors can make it more fun. You don’t have to go through all the elaborate classy details, though. You can choose to just decorate your table, your Christmas tree or you can decorate your entire home, it is totally up to you. Christmas decorating has been a tradition for centuries and taking some hints from the olden days will help you make your home become a pretty place full of Christmas spirit and joy.

Decorating Your Christmas Table

Dressing up your table, may it be for dining with your family and friends or for an event, creates a wonderful evening. Making our meals with family and friends can be memorable. This can be done without spending a lot of money. All you need to do is look for some pine cones in the woods. Spray paint them with gold paint, add some fake snow and some glitters, then you will have a beautiful centerpiece for your table. This will look lovely on Christmas day and for many days after. Holly leaves, mistletoe, and tinsel will also make a beautiful, inexpensive Christmas decoration and it is a very old Celtic symbol of fertility.

Decorating your Christmas Tree.

The Christmas tree is the most popular tradition during Christmastime. It was probably the Germans who started this tradition. The beauty and smell of a real tree is unmatched. However, if you don’t like those pine needles on your floor, then you can choose an artificial tree. You can also choose a tree with roots and then plant it after Christmas, if you would like. It is entirely up to your personal preference.

Candles were used to light Christmas trees in the olden days, but they were found to be quite hazardous, especially if the needles were dry and delicate. Presently, electric lights are the norm and most people use quite a few strands of lights to turn their tree into a blinking beauty. You can go over the edge with Christmas decorations, but in most cases, it is best to stay simple.

Decorating Within Your House

Colored paper, silver tinsel, and fake snow can also be used to transform your home into a Christmas joy. Add snow to your windows, holly above the doors, and some mistletoe to the doorways to get those stolen kisses. You can create a Christmas full of joy simply by adding a few Christmas decorating touches to your home.

Many families go to great lengths to include a nice photograph of their loved ones dressed up for the holiday or even a photo of the whole family – including the dog of course. A photo card is a wonderful way to send your best wishes.

Decorating Outside Your House

People used to decorate the outside of their home with a simple holly wreath, but now you see yards and homes decorated with thousands of lights, figurines, and blow-up figures. Too much is not a good thing. Simple is better, especially outside of your home. Pick a theme and stick with it so that you will feel good about your Christmas decorating.
